A fantasy roleplaying game in your browser. A Dungeon Master tells the story and you decide what your character does. Dice are rolled by fifth-edition rules, your character levels up, and a hand-drawn map fills in as you explore. Play alone, or with friends.
No. Write what you want to do in plain words, and the game asks for a roll when one is needed and adds up the numbers for you. The tutorial takes about ten minutes and shows everything else.
Playing with friends and running the game yourself is free for everyone, at a real table or online. When our Dungeon Master tells the story, there are three ways to run it:
| Pack | Credits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| A Night's Tale | 100 | €3.99 |
| A Long Journey | 300 | €9.99 |
| The Full Chronicle | 800 | €19.99 |
| Premium, monthly | 500 every month | €9.99 a month |
| Premium, yearly | 500 every month | €99.99 a year (two months free) |
Credits from packs never expire. Premium's monthly credits refresh each month and do not carry over, and they are always spent before your pack credits. Yearly Premium is paid once a year and still gives 500 credits each month. Cancel Premium any time in Account, under Premium, and keep it until the end of the month or year you paid for.
No, purchases are final. If something went wrong, for example you were charged twice or your credits did not arrive, email [email protected] and we will sort it out. See the terms for the details.
No. You can make a hero and play straight away, on your own Google key or on your own computer. Without an account your quest is kept only until you close the tab, and you enter your API key again on each visit. A free account saves your quests and your key, and you need one to play multiplayer and to buy credits. If you sign in partway through a quest, it moves into your account.
Yes, automatically, once you are signed in. You have four quest slots. Sign in on another device and your quests are there. A copy is also kept in your browser, so a dropped connection does not lose your progress. Without an account, your quest is kept only until you close the tab.
Yes, that is what it is made for. Open Multiplayer on the home screen, create a table and invite up to three friends by username, or send them the join link. When you set up the table, choose how you play:
Every table has safety tools behind the shield at the top: an X-card anyone can tap when something in the story is not OK for them, a way to ask for a break, and the table's lines (never in the story) and veils (off screen only). Nobody's name is shown with any of them.
To whisper to someone at the table, press the speech bubble beside Send, or type
/tell and their name, for example /tell Aria meet me outside, or
/tell DM to reach a human Dungeon Master. Only you and they can read it.
Tap your own picture at the top to send a quick reaction to the table. The Dungeon Master can also hand out letters, notes, wanted posters and pictures; you find them behind the paper icon at the top. When you come back to a quest, a short recap shows where you left off.
Your key is stored with your account in a place only you can read. Without an account it is kept only in your browser tab, until you close it. Your browser sends it straight to Google when you play; we never use it ourselves. You can remove it in Settings at any time.

No. The game follows the fifth-edition rules Wizards of the Coast published openly: the SRD 5.1 (the 2014 rules) and the SRD 5.2.1 (the 2024 rules), under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. That is why the compendium holds the open-rules spells, monsters and items, but not everything from the printed books, and why each class offers one subclass. Make your own in Homebrew. We are not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast; see the rules credits.
New heroes use the 2024 rules: a background gives your ability score increase, an origin feat and two skills; a species gives your traits; martial classes get Weapon Mastery; and every class picks its subclass at level 3. Heroes made before keep the 2014 rules they were made with.
Your own rules. In the Compendium you can make spells, monsters, magic items, species, classes and subclasses. Your Dungeon Master knows them, your species and classes appear when you make a hero, and your subclasses appear when your hero reaches the level to pick one. They are saved to your account; as a guest they last until you close the tab.
